Two intensive race weekends lie behind Colin Beischroth – first at the Italian Supermoto Championship in Ottobiano and shortly afterwards at the International German Championship in Lignières, Switzerland. Find out how Colin did, what challenges he had to overcome and what placings he was able to achieve in his detailed race reports:
The 4th round of the Italian championship took place in very hot Ottobiano. I arrived two days earlier to use the Friday and Saturday for intensive training and to familiarize myself with the track, which I had only ridden on once the year before.
It was very hot, the thermometer was constantly over 30 degrees. Difficult physical conditions. Ottobiano is a very demanding course with tight, alternating bends and also long, fast bends as well as a 90-degree corner that needs to be ridden skillfully. The off-road had been redesigned compared to the previous year, but was very rideable and fun. After a few turns on Friday and Saturday, the final suspension settings and the right choice of tires, I was ready for qualifying and the races on Sunday.
It was straight down to business on Sunday: 5 minutes of free practice, followed seamlessly by 20 minutes of qualifying. The aim was to drive a good, fast lap as quickly as possible and to conserve the tires, because according to the Italian regulations, only one set of tires is allowed for qualifying and both races and the tires must not be rotated. In the end, I managed to get 6th on the grid and was on the second row on the far right.
In the first race, the first right-hand bend after the start was tight, but I was able to defend my starting position against the competition and even make up a place, so that I entered the off-road in 5th place. After the first 3 laps, I was able to overtake another competitor off-road and then pulled out a decent lead. This allowed me to finish the race in 4th place.
In the second race, the first right-hand bend after the start was also very close and there was a crash involving 5 riders, but I wasn’t involved. I was able to defend my position at the start or make up a place and keep it over the race distance, so I finished the second race in 5th place. All in all, a successful weekend.

We went to the beautiful Swiss track at TC Lignières. Once again this year, we took part in the IDSM race as part of the Swiss championship. It was a hot weekend, both in terms of the temperatures and the course of the race! The thermometer climbed to the 30-degree mark and the training sessions and races were exciting. There was a thunderstorm in between, but the track dried out again at the right time. The free practice sessions and qualifying took place on Saturday. In the two free practice sessions, the final optimizations and chassis settings were made, after which it was time for qualifying. The aim was to be on the front row of the grid, which I achieved as 4th fastest. My grid position was on the far right. On Sunday afternoon, it was time for the races. Right from the start, I was able to make up a position in both races and move up to 3rd place.
In the first race, I battled with the second-placed rider in front of me. I tried to overtake in different places and with different lines, but couldn’t get past. On another attempt, the rider close behind me took advantage of the situation and pushed past me, now I was in 4th place. There was a tough three-way battle for 2nd to 4th place for the rest of the race until the finish line, which I ultimately crossed in 4th place.
In the second race, I was back in 3rd place after the start and had the same rival in front of me as in the race before. This time there was a tough duel between us for 2nd and 3rd place, and later for 1st and 2nd place, as the leader had crashed on lap 3. It was a tough race, I was virtually stuck in the rear of the rider in front of me for the entire race distance, but I didn’t manage any overtaking maneuvers and he consistently closed the door. In the end, I crossed the finish line in 2nd place and am very happy with that, my best result so far.
