Rider statement

Liam Owens

“A really fun motocross weekend is behind me and I was finally able to achieve a solid overall result that I can build on. Things went well in qualifying and I got 8th place on the grid – a decent starting position. I drove strongly in the first race and finished in 5th place, but unfortunately I wasn’t able to make a decisive overtaking attempt, otherwise I might have been able to do even better. In the second race, I didn’t get a good start again, but worked my way up to 5th place before I went off the track in the fourth corner and got stuck in the deep sand. That dropped me back to 15th place, but I was still very happy with my recovery and my speed afterwards. In the end, I finished 5th overall – a good result that shows we are on the right track. But it’s also clear that I need to improve my starts so that I don’t make the races difficult for myself. Now it’s time to keep working – see you next weekend at my world championship debut in Teutschenthal!”

Nico Greutmann

“Not an easy weekend for me. Having arrived with a knee injury, I actually felt okay at the beginning – until I crashed in qualifying due to a slower rider and injured my knee again. Nevertheless, I lined up at the starting gate for the first race. From 28th place, I fought my way up to P16, but mentally I wasn’t at my best – a shame, because I could definitely have done better. On Sunday in the second race, the start went really well and motivation was high. But the race was practically over after less than two corners: the third-placed rider didn’t jump, I was already in the air – the crash was unavoidable and I went down again. Nevertheless, I got back on the bike, started the race in last place and fought my way up to 19th place.”

Mads Fredsøe

“I only managed P15 in qualifying – not what I had hoped for. The feeling was okay, but the final bite was missing. I got out of the gate quite well in the first run, but then it just didn’t go smoothly: no flow, too many small mistakes and the hand didn’t feel particularly good either. Check it off, move on. In the second run, I was right there: Top start, focus on my technique and did my thing. Even a crash didn’t put me off my stride – P6 in the end, and I’m definitely happy with that. Overall 12th place is not the big goal, but on a difficult weekend like this I’ll take it. I’m coming back step by step, feeling better from race to race – not quite at 100% yet, but I’m heading in the right direction. We’ll keep at it!”
