Cat-Moto: ADAC MX Masters Mölln

Rider statement

Liam Owens

“The weekend in Mölln was very positive for me overall – finally a race without annoying mistakes and with a reasonably consistent performance. It feels good to have more control over my races again. If I can get my starts right now, there’s a lot more to come. The pace is good, but it’s difficult to be at the front when you have to plow through half the field in every race.

In qualifying, I secured 6th place in my group – a solid basis for the races.

I had a bad start in the first race and was initially around 15th place, but I was able to fight my way forward with a lot of effort and eventually finished fifth.

In the second race, the start was much better, I was able to position myself well early on and drove a strong race, which I finished in 4th place.

In the third race, I didn’t get a good start again and came out of the first lap outside the top 20. I got stuck on a rider, just couldn’t get past and completely lost my rhythm as a result. In the end, I only finished 13th – I definitely need to improve on that.

Nevertheless, it was enough for 6th place in the overall standings.

Now it’s time to regenerate, analyze – and then focus fully on the next race: EMX250 in Ernée!

“The weekend started strongly: I really delivered in qualifying and took first place in my group.

I got off to a mediocre start in the first race, but was able to fight my way up to sixth place as the race progressed.

The second run also started promisingly. I came out of the gate well, even overtook the third-placed rider for a short time, but was immediately passed back again. Then it happened: I put my foot down and injured myself so badly that I unfortunately couldn’t finish the race.

Despite the pain, I started the third run again. It went okay and I finished in ninth place.

Now it’s time to go home – and then straight to the doctor. I hope nothing bad has happened.”

“What a weekend! Things went really well in qualifying – together with Michael I took P3, which gave me a solid grid position from row one.

In the first race, I came out of the gate in about 5th place, drove a strong race and worked my way up to 2nd place.

I got the holeshot in the second run, led the race from start to finish and confidently took the win – P1. Simply a perfect run!

I started the third race in second place, but felt a bit tired towards the end of the race and had to settle for third place.

In the daily classification, that was still enough for overall victory – P1 overall! I’m particularly proud of this because I broke my hand just five weeks ago and hardly had any time on the bike.

An almost perfect re-entry – and I’m eager for more!”
